OBITUARY: Delores Rose Shaw
was born January 8, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas andwent to our Lord on November 2, 2022 in Bonham,Texas. She was the youngest of ten children andgrew up on a family farm in Howard, Kansas. Sheloved riding horses and helping her mother raisechickens. Delores spent most of her adult life inKurten, TX.
Delores married in 1943 and had two children.Anita in 1944 and Harlin, who died shortly afterbirth. Delores and her first husband adopted Bryanin 1953. In 1954, Delores and family moved toCollege Station, TX. Shortly after moving, Deloresbecame a single parent with two young children.She worked several different jobs, before getting ajob at the Texas A&M clothing warehouse. Herboss, Bryan Hearne introduced her to JamesClinton (JC) Shaw in 1957. Soon after, Delores andJC were married and started a dairy business inKurten, TX. JC adopted Anita and Bryan Dale. In1959, Delores and JC adopted Corinne and in 1964they adopted Dwight Edwin.
Delores is predeceased by her parents John andGladys Rose, her husband JC and her son Harlin.They had four children: Anita Jean (CleophasRobert Cooke, Jr.), Bryan Dale, Corinne (KennethKahil) and Dwight Edwin (Sandra Stanley).Grandchildren: Cleophas Cooke III (ChikakoHiramya), Craig Clinton Cooke, Keith MarshallKahil (Lori Muessig), Lindsey Michelle Kahil(Charles Burns), Helen Rose Shaw. And seven greatgrandchildren: Courtney Makoto Cooke, IanHirotaka Cooke, Emmy Burns, Reese Burns, BeauBurns, Avery Kahil, and Mason Kahil.
Delores had many long-lasting friendships and washappiest living with her husband JC in the Kurtencommunity. She enjoyed spending time withfamily, cooking, sewing and loved country life. Shewill be missed by all that knew her.
